Buff and Blend Cross Buffs are made from an open-structure of non-woven fibers with abrasive particles held together by resin to form a loose webbing. They are ideal for removing surface oxidation, rust, and surface coatings for part inspection, surface preparation prior to coating, removing corrosion on steel rule and kirksite dies. Cross Buffs can be used for cleaning and polishing hard-to-reach areas like inside diameters of round or square tubing, pipes, lifter bores, valve bodies, and brake cylinders. The Cross Buff material allows for removal of surface contaminants without eliminating critical detail or gouging the workpiece.

Unique Design for Tight Spots
Buff and Blend Cross Buff is the go-to product for stubborn surface areas that require a unique, tough construction. While discs or wheels may be unable to get inside a narrow pipe or tube, our Cross Buff was designed to do just that. The abrasive fingers are spring-like and bend and move to accommodate the inner diameter of the workpiece. They refine deep scratches and defects without compromising the geometry of the part.

Quality Materials for the Toughest Jobs
Buff & Blend products are made from tough, resin-reinforced nylon fiber with aluminum oxide abrasive grain. Each of the Buff & Blend grades offers unique benefits.

Open Web Design
In addition to the unique design of our Buff and Blend Cross Buffs, the open web construction also adds a level of sponginess and flexibility. This open web material is created by combining nonwoven nylon strands and abrasive mineral with resin bonding material. Gaps between the nylon fibers allow unwanted swarf to escape, enhancing load resistance and efficiency. As the abrasive is less likely to clog with debris, the mineral keeps cutting sharper, longer.

The open web material resin bonding are also waterproof and can be used with lubricants, which help to keep the abrasive running cool and wash away swarf. The load-resistant properties of the web, combined with the swarf-cleaning action of the lubricant, help to prevent workpiece contamination. As debris clears away, the likelihood of particles smearing or blemishing the substrate decreases.

Grade Descriptions:

GP Good rate of cut while providing enhanced durability when used for general duty applications. The abrasive material on Cross Buff GP is a great all-purpose material for cleaning and polishing. The material cuts sharp while still delivering a fine polish. Cross Buff GP comes in a range of grades from very fine (VFN) to coarse (CRS). Typically, very fine and fine grades are useful when a soft scratch pattern is desired, whereas a medium or coarse grade delivers a more aggressive scratch.

HP This stiff material produces an aggressive rate of cut. Designed for use on applications where precise metal removal is required.

HS Medium This High Strength material provides an excellent finish and flexibility along with greater tear resistance. A perfect choice when imparting a soft scratch pattern or final finish on irregular shaped parts that increase the tendency for materials to tear.

HS Coarse The High Strength Coarse material is the best choice for tough applications that require a higher rate of cut or a coarser finish than High Strength Medium. It is ideal for satin and grain finishing applications as well as blending and cleaning surface imperfections and delivers a more aggressive scratch.
