Kutzall tools are fast-cutting, long-lasting tools designed to work easily and efficiently where other conventional tools fail. Kutzall tools are great for wood carving and woodworking. They are also quite effective on “difficult to cut" materials such as:

Fiberglass - Plastic - Solid Rubber & Polyurethane
Soft Stone - Silicone - Rigid or Flexible Foam

Kutzall tools are available with several types of long-wearing carbide coatings. Original Kutzall tools feature SSG Carbide Teeth. These extremely sharp, long wearing conical teeth provide superior stock removal and will not load on most materials. They remove work-piece material with a very smooth cutting action, making them very easy to control. SSG teeth perform well on all types of wood as well as on relatively soft materials such as rubber. Original Kutzall SSG tools come in coarse (silver-colored) and are still available in limited quantities of fine (gold-colored) versions.

Kutzall Extreme tools utilize the more aggressive "MCM" carbide coating, which provides more aggressive cutting action, reduced heat, and even greater resistance to loading. Kutzall Extreme tools have been discontinued, but are still available in limited quantities only in coarse (teal-colored).

The most basic Oliver coating is made up of random-shaped "grits" of tungsten-carbide, and is available in grit sizes you are familiar with for sandpaper, such as #23, #36, #46, etc. While the crushed grit coatings do not offer as great of cutting efficiency as some other Oliver coatings, they are excellent for punishing applications such as trimming soft ceramics, grinding of fiberglass and other laminants, and some types of stone. They also work well for many gripping or drive (traction) applications. Unlike sandpaper, the grits are permanently brazed onto a steel surface for long life. The standard coating is 23 grit, Extra-Coarse - Red. Only available in certain sizes and shapes as noted below and following page.
