Super carbide burs, often referred to as "carbide", were originally designed for use in the dental office on hard tooth enamel in high-speed dental handpieces. The harder blades of these burs make them useful for working on materials that are too hard for tungsten vanadium steel burs.

Super carbide burs are made of high performance carbide steel. Using a special process that bonds the carbide head to the steel shank (unaffected by heat), these burs are constructed to assure exact concentricity. Busch burs are very durable and wear-resistant, even under unfavorable clearance conditions.

Taper burs, sometimes referred to as Square or Flat End Cone burs are very versatile often used by dentist, jewelers, and hobbyists, available in a wide range of diameters.

Taper carbide burs are excellent for applications in natural enamel, acrylic, or metals such as gold and silver.
