Arkansas Stones are a natural abrasive stone made of Novaculite, white to black in color often having a range of shades in a single stone. Soft Arkansas (extra-fine 400-600 grit), the least dense of the natural abrasive stones, is ideal for final honing of straight blades and gouges after prior sharpening with India or Crystolon stones. Hard Arkansas (ultra-fine 800-900 grit), with its very dense construction is recommended for stoning where the sharpest edges are required. Unsurpassed for honing and maintaining the extremely fine, super-smooth edges on precision tools and instruments.
