ARTCO Special Stones, our most popular general-purpose stones, are composed of aluminum-oxide grain and feature a medium hardness suitable for most tool and mold steels. An excellent finishing stone, Special Stones are harder than Silicon-Carbide Stones, yet softer than YLS Stones. ARTCO Special Stones are available in 150, 220, 320, 400, 500 and 600 grits.
Identified by their olive-green to brown color, ARTCO Special Stones are fast cutting and non-loading so can be used with or without a lubricant such as our ARTCO Stoning Oil, Norton Stoning Oil, or Boride BORI-LUBE 10. ARTCO Special Stones are designed for hand finishing with Stone Holders, use with reciprocating Profilers, and Ultrasonic Polishers.
